Every Tower, Every Lift

Behind the Scenes with Lift Maintenance
At Homewood Mountain Resort, we are committed the reliability and safety of our lifts. This off-season, our mountain operations and maintenance teams have been hard at work completing a meticulous inspection and maintenance project ensuring our lifts are ready for the winter.
From the lakefront base all the way up to Ellis Peak, every lift and every tower on the mountain has been inspected, serviced, and fine-tuned. That means hundreds of hours spent checking sheaves, chairs, grips, haul ropes, and electrical systems. Behind-the-scenes work that most guests never see but always benefit from.
Each tower received a detailed inspection and torque check. Bearings and sheave assemblies were re-greased, alignment verified, and safety switches tested. Where needed, we replaced hardware, bearings, and bushings to ensure the system runs smoothly and quietly throughout the season. While these upgrades enhance performance, the goal isn’t just smoother rides it’s longevity and guest safety.
Homewood’s lifts operate in a dynamic mountain environment, and preventive maintenance ensures that we stay ahead of wear from snow, ice, and wind exposure. Our crews worked lift by lift, tower by tower, to make sure that every component meets or exceeds California tramway standards.
This kind of work doesn’t happen overnight or just once a year. Our maintenance technicians have been on the mountain since the last chair of the season and work throughout the season, climbing every tower, checking components, and running diagnostics in every kind of weather. Their dedication is what keeps Homewood operable, and we couldn’t be prouder of the team that makes it happen.
All this work means that when you clip in and load a chair this winter, you can count on it running smoothly, safely, and reliability, every time.
Lift maintenance isn’t flashy, but it’s what keeps our mountain moving, and we’re committed to keeping that standard.
