Ski School will only be offering Private lessons for the remainder of the season.

Homewood Mountain Resort is proud to offer you our new X Based Learning System for Children, along with our new surface lift at the South Base Area. (For Adults 13 & up, please refer to our Adult section). Our programs include group lessons, private lessons, and specialized "Camp" style clinics. Arrive early to sign up, especially on weekends, holidays, or if renting equipment.

Introduction

Snow Rangers(ages 4-12)
In the Snow Rangers Academy your child will have the opportunity to learn new techniques and advance at a comfortable pace.

Snow Rangers lessons take place on a run which is used exclusively for children enrolled in our program. More advanced young skiers and snowboarders will have full use of all appropriate terrain at Homewood Mountain Resort. Our Snow Rangers program teaches skiing to children aged 4 through 12, and snowboarding to children aged 7 through 12. Reservations can be made by calling direct to: 530-525-2992 x 102 from 8am to 4pm.

Our Ski School is certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America and staffed by well trained instructors who are committed to providing a quality ski experience in a positive and fun environment for your child.

Children's Private Lessons
For all levels, ages 3-12. Private lessons are by availability only, and offered through the Children’s SnowSports program. Private lessons are offered at 9am, 12 noon, and 3pm. Lessons are one hour in length.

NOTE: Please arrive 30 minutes before your lesson time if you already have your own equipment. If you need to rent equipment, please arrive 45 minutes before your scheduled lesson. Late arrivals may lose their lesson slot or be transferred to a latter session. Children need to bring snowsuits, gloves, sunglasses or eye protection, hats, & sunscreen. We do sell sunscreen and goggles for those little ones who come without.

Location:

  • The Childrens SnowSports School is located at the South Lodge. Drive 1/4 mile past the North Lodge on Hwy 89 South and turn right on Tahoe Ski Bowl Way. You will see the Children's SnowSports center straight ahead.

Parents:

  • You may purchase your lift tickets at the South Lodge. For parents who need to rent their own equipment the easiest way is to take our FREE shuttle bus to the North Base Area.

Times:

  • 9am Private registration is at 8am (No earlier, No later)
  • AM Group registration is at 8:15am (No earlier, No later)
  • 12pm Private registration is at 11am (No earlier, No later)
  • PM Group registraton is at 11:30am (No earlier, No later)

Ages:

  • Ages 4-12 for group skiing lessons (no 3 1/2 or 3 3/4 year olds, no exceptions!)
  • Ages 7-12 for snowboarding.
  • 3 year olds may take a Private Lesson.

Reservations:

  • Reservations are secured on a credit card.
  • You must talk to the live reservations operator to have a reservation. If you get voice mail,
    leave a detailed message with your name, the date and time of your desired reservation, and
    a phone number. The reservations operator will call you back to confirm your reservation.
    If you do not hear from anyone, that means you do NOT have a reservation.
  • Call (530) 525-2992 ext. 102 for reservations.
  • Cancellation Policy: You must cancel 24 hours before your scheduled lesson or you will receive a $50 charge on your
    credit card.
  • Please arrive 30 minutes before your reservation time if you already have your own equipment. If you need to rent equipment, please arrive 45 minutes before your scheduled lesson. Late arrivals may lose their lesson slot or be transferred to a latter session if available.

Class Sizes:

  • 5 Star VIP lessons have 5 kids per instructor.
  • 1st timers ages 4-6 will have about 10 kids per instructor.
  • 1st timers ages 7-12 will have about 10 kids per instructor.
  • All others will have about 10 kids per instructor.

Where to Watch:

  • The best place to watch is from outside the boundary fence.
  • Please let the teacher teach the class without interruptions.

Drop-Off:

  • Morning Lesson: You may drop your child off inside with a check-in person immediately after sign up.
  • Afternoon Lesson: You may drop your child off inside with a check-in person after 12:15.

Pick-Up:

  • You may pick up your child outside of the Children's SnowSports center following the lesson at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  • Please have your pick up card for each child.
  • You make take the equipment with you for further use that day.

What's Needed:

  • Hats, gloves, goggles/sunglasses.
  • Sunscreen
  • Waterproof pants, jacket, and gloves.

Food:

  • Lunch is served for the all-day students.
  • Please encourage kids to eat breakfast/lunch before attending class.
  • We will work with special needs of food if notified at sign-up.

Prices include rental equipment:

  • Prices do NOT include helmet rental. Helmets may be rented separately for $8 a day.
  • Equipment rental is good all day, even if the child is only signed up for a half day lesson.
  • All-day package: $110 (includes ski/snowboard equipment, lift ticket, lunch, and a 3.5 hour group lesson).
  • Half-day package: $80 (includes ski/snowboard equipment for the entire day, lift ticket, and a 1.75 hour group lesson).
  • Private lesson: $90 (includes a 1 hour private lesson and full day rental equipment, $35 for each additional child). Private lessons are scheduled at 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., or 3:00 p.m. on a space available basis.

Equipment Sizes:

  • Ski boots = sizes 8 and up
  • Skis = sizes 80cm and up
  • Snowboard boots = sizes 1 and up
  • Snowboards = sizes 105cm and up

Equipment Returns:

  • Equipment should be returned to the location from which it was rented.
  • Return equipment by 4:15 p.m.
  • Equipment rentals are good all day (i.e. a morning student may use the equipment until 4:15).
  • If you want to rent the equipment for the next day, you need to take care of the payment and make all arrangements by 2:30 p.m.
