Homewood Mountain Resort will be the start and finish of the Tahoe 200, a 200 mile ultra-marathon that circumnavigates Lake Tahoe. The race is the first of its kind in the United States, and will take place September 5th-9th, 2014.
The course will be a continuous single trail loop that principally follows the Tahoe Rim Trail. Over the course of 200 miles, pre-qualified runners will experience an elevation gain of 39,800 feet, while traversing counterclockwise around Lake Tahoe and its surround wilderness, all in less than 100 hours! Approximately 90 runners will be participating in the inaugural event, which were selected in a lottery process. The Race Director, Candice Burt, is an established athlete and race promoter in the Pacific Northwest.
Additional details for this race are available at http://www.tahoe200.com/. Registrations are no longer being accepted for the Tahoe 200, but support crews and spectators are invited to participate in the Homewood Mountain Run.
